ORDER On June 14, 1993, the Board docketed a petition filed on behalf of Joe Green requesting that the contracting officer for General Services Administration issue a decision within a reasonable and specified time period on a certified claim. On July 15, the Board received respondent's motion to dismiss, that provided, as follows: Pursuant to the General Services Administra- tion Board of Contract Appeals Rule 8 and the Board's Order of June 17, 1993, respondent hereby submits this Motion to Dismiss because the dispute is now moot. DISCUSSION On September 21, 1992, Mr. Joe Green submitted a claim pursuant to the Contract Disputes Act to the contracting officer. On June 8, 1993, Mr. Green, through his counsel requested that the Board direct the contracting officer to issue a decision on that claim. The Board docketed appellant's petition and by order dated June 17, 1993, directed respondent to either issue a decision or submit a schedule showing by what date the decision would be issued. The contracting officer issued a final decision addressing Mr. Green's claim of September 21, 1992, on July 8, 1993. Attachment 1. Since the contracting officer has issued a decision, the purpose of appellant's petition has been served. Universal Development Corporation, GSBCA No. 11437-41, 92-1 BCA 24,436. Accordingly, respondent requests that the Board dismiss GSBCA No. 12459 as moot. On August 2, the Board received appellant's letter dated July 23, that stated: I represent the Petitioner, Mr. Green, in the above-referenced matter. I am in receipt of Respondent's Motion to Dismiss the petition filed by my client and wish to represent to the court that my client joins in the motion to dismiss.
